About The Tin Dog
From the stylish comfort of the accommodation and facilities to the breakfasts made from local produce, The Tin Dog offers a bed and breakfast experience that's individual in every way.
An eclectic marriage of old and new, The Tin Dog has an atmosphere of understated elegance. The main house was built circa 1900 and has been extensively refurbished. The garden rooms, nestled among the palms and separated from the main house by a walkway, are recent additions that reflect the style and comfort of the main house.
The Tin Dog's landscaped gardens
and extensive grounds provide a luxuriously green outlook, and plenty
of space for socialising or solitude.
Accommodation
Four
large tastefully decorated guestrooms, each with a private verandah
and ensuite bathroom, ensure an intimate environment where you can forget
the world outside. The two guestrooms in the main house, The King and
Cedar Rooms, with their polished timber floors and high ceilings, have
french doors leading out to their wide wrap-around verandas overlooking
the gardens.
The
King Room is the largest of the four rooms, with a king size
bed and huge bathroom featuring a double shower and sunken spa bath.
The
charming feel of The Cedar Room will appeal to all
romantics, with its red cedar walls, large ensuite and clawfoot bath.
The
Palm Room and The Garden Room , aptly named
for their outlooks, are light and airy also with polished wooden floors
and high ceilings combining to give an uncluttered contemporary feel.
These rooms are separate from each other in Pavilion style and adjoin
the main living areas via a palm-hugged walkway.
A
high standard of accessories including a CD player, bar fridge, tea
and coffee making facilities, bottles of spring water, ceiling fans,
electric blankets, bathrobes, hair dryers, candles and bath and beauty
products from the locally made Sanctum range completes the accent on
individual comfort.
Guest Facilities
If
you don't feel like hiding away in your room, you can stretch out in
the spacious sitting room, curl up on the sofa in the reading room and
loose yourself in the extensive range of books, magazines and CDs which
are all available for guest use (both rooms have the added bonus of
warm log fires in the cooler months).
Wander
around the extensive grounds, enjoy the tranquility of the summer house
and the soothing sounds of the creek, laze by the 12-metre pool (do
laps if you've got the inclination!), or chill out on any of the cool,
wide verandahs (including your own) that overlook The Tin Dog's private
gardens.
If
it weren't for the fact that there's so much to see and do close by,
the temptation to while away your time at The Tin Dog would be irresistible.
The
abundance and variety of fresh, local produce makes breakfast at The
Tin Dog a genuine gourmet start to the day. You could tantalise your
taste buds with seasonal fresh fruit and lashings of yoghurt, local
muesli, tomato and pancetta tart or baked eggs wrapped in smoked salmon.
Make it light or indulge yourself!
There
are many good restaurants and cafes in Byron Bay, Bangalow and Mullumbimby,
open for lunch and dinner, to allow you to experience more of the delights
of the local cuisine. Should guests decide not to venture away from
The Tin Dog for dinner, they are welcome to bring back some fine local
produce to cook on the BBQ and dine in either of the garden pergolas.
Bring
your favorite wine and other beverages or take a short stroll to the
village store, which stocks almost everything.
